Hiya Reader! I’m off living my best life at Kit’s Craft + Commerce conference at the moment. (This introvert’s social battery has been diligently prepped and pampered beforehand, fear not.😅) So I figured, what better time to do a little roundup of the newsletters that seemed to resonate most with you all in the first half of 2026? (Yes, hate to be the bearer of bad news but we are, in fact, just about halfway through the year. I’m just as shocked and in denial as you are.) But before we get into it, friendly reminder that the next Quick Copy Clinic is this Tuesday. Two spots left, just 9 bucks, bring whatever copy you’d like a second set of eyes on, you don’t need to join live to get your copy reviewed. Check it out here. And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming… 1) Should we all just become dog sitters? Five women who run businesses. One Monday morning mastermind. One collective existential spiral. And one very important detail: the person fantasizing about becoming a full-time dog sitter… doesn’t even like dogs. This one got more responses than anything else I’ve sent this year. Make of that what you will.
2) Maybe don’t read this if you’ve ever thought about hiring me In which I share a voice note about rearranging my entire morning coffee routine to potentially save one dollar that afternoon. And somehow connect it to what happens when I look at your copy. A super normal and logical connection to make, obviously.
3) Do you think I’m hurting my chances? Featuring: my first-ever brand photoshoot, my most fashionable friend, and one very gentle question about whether I maybe, juuuust possibly, had a blazer somewhere. (Spoiler: I did not.) Fair warning: this one went out just a few weeks ago. But it proved to be enough of a hit that I wanted to reshare!
Honorable mention (because I do actually write about copy sometimes): Copy + Messaging INs & OUTs for 2026 My unofficial, no-nonsense take on what’s working in copy right now, what needs to go, and why “are you ready to…?” headlines are my personal arch-nemesis.
Okay, back to conferencing for me. Happy reading! ~Nicole P.S. For good measure, here’s that link to my Quick Copy Clinic once again. I mean, come on folks! Better copy (which = more sales) for just 9 bucks is an absolute steal, if I do say so myself ;-)

Join the weekly (ish) newsletter for business owners who want their copy to sell without the sleaze, excessive sales pressure, or disappearing into the AI-flavored sea-of-sameness. Served alongside embarrassing personal stories, the occasional (okay fine, *frequent*) existential crisis, and at least one parenthetical aside per email.
Here’s a rapid-fire “let’s make your website (or sales page) convert better” tip for you on this fine Thursday morning. It’s about your bio. You see, most bios do a perfectly *acceptable* job of explaining what someone does. And hey, they might even cover how they do it. But they still remain painfully generic with something like: “I’m a [title] who helps [audience] achieve [outcome].” Which sounds okay (ish)! Until you realize it also sounds like it could have been written by ~literally...
My 10-year business-iversary was this July, and I’m marking the occasion with a classic “10 lessons from 10 years in business.” Part 2 incoming below. Catch part 1 (lessons 1-5) here ICYMI! 6) Perfectionism will be the (second) death of you. [Wondering what the first is? I was being serious when I said to check out part 1 if you missed it. Link here ;-)] Hi, I’m Nicole Elliott, and chronic overthinking and/or agonizing may as well be my middle name. (Yes, I totally overthunk – not a word, I’m...
10 years ago this month, I found myself back in the U.S., fresh off a difficult year of teaching English in South Korea (plus another 3 months of backpacking in Asia with my newish-at-the-time husband), sitting down in my still-bare living room googling “how to make a living writing online.” Amazingly, I’ve managed to make an entire career out of that single Google Search… and am still here, much to my own surprise, a decade later. Here’s what I’ve learned since then. [Part 1 of 2!] 1)...
